Marilyn Monroe as Betty Boop? No...CLARA BOW!

Marilyn Monroe as Clara Bow

So someone was complaining to me recently that Marilyn Monroe and Betty Boop are not one and the same. And I told them who told you that? I certainly didn't. ❤

They are similar but are not the same.

Clara Bow and Betty Boop

So this individual claimed that Marilyn dressed up as Betty Boop for an event. When in fact she is dressed up as Clara Bow. Unlike most people, Marilyn doing these tribute photos of Bow for a photo shoot was her acknowledging that Clara Bow was the "ORIGINAL" sex-symbol of the 1920s.

As people guess, people today are dense and will believe anything they hear.

Now you need to understand that Betty Boop was created from a photograph of Helen Kane. But Clara Bow had an influence on the character's sexual nature.

Also at one point Betty Boop had red hair like Clara Bow. Little Ann Little claimed that it was because she had red hair. We don't know for sure. But the Hollywood on Parade A-8  connection referencing Betty Boop and Clara Bow being similar is a great example. Personally I think that was a dig at Helen Kane for suing. A lot of us with brains do know the exact origins.

Keep in mind for idiots in general, that as a fictional character that does not exist, Betty can have any hair color. She can have short hair or long hair as she did in Betty in Blunderland. They could even change her entire race as the Fleischers did when Betty became Samoan. Samoans or Samoan people are the indigenous Polynesian people of the Samoan Islands, an archipelago in Polynesia, who speak the Samoan language.

For those in the back that don't understand. Helen Kane came AFTER Clara Bow not BEFORE and was dubbed a protégé of Bow by Paul Ash.

However Helen Kane and Clara Bow shared the limelight around the same era prior to Bow retiring. So at one point before Kane died out, she was just as famous as Bow. They did a Paramount on Parade together in separate skits. Clara Bow was sexy, Kane wasn't. She tried to be but failed because of her weight problems.

Paul Ash would later try to do the same with Ginger Rogers and make her a protégé of Helen Kane. So basically these women were all copying one another earlier on in their careers. See what I mean about "imitation of imitation" in the industry? That some people cannot seem to grasp? You know the DUMB-DUMBS in the back? No one in this world is original and never will be. People will continue to emulate one another.

For example you could have an idea or style or do something first and someone eventually down the line will emulate that style, steal or use it. For example how Helen Kane coined the whole "Boop" routine from the scat genre. And pretended she was the sole innovator of the "Boop" and "baby-talk" routines when many other performers had used the phrase and singing style long before she was known, which is what we will always ensure is known. Where did she go wrong? She laid claim to not acknowledging what came before her or who she was imitating.

Most people don't like acknowledging others and like to lay claim to things they don't own.

For example could be a "CHARACTER" impersonator or "CHARACTER" imitator or sound-alike, and they won't acknowledge who exactly they are copying. But most of the time will try to use this as an excuse to justify their bad behavior or views.

"Speaking of imitation and or impersonation. It was quite a shock to me when Tina Turner decided to 'SUE' imitators the month of this year."

I heard that Tina Turner may not win her case. Because if she does win, then tribute bands will be banned worldwide, because then everyone would be suing everyone. Sorry Tina... I understand she's a the "Queen of Rock 'n Roll" but being black has nothing to do with right and wrong.

Someone told me that Tina is possibly more upset that her impersonator Dorothea 'Coco' Fletcher is doing really great in Germany especially in sales of her current appearances.

I don't think Tina will win. But if she did happen to, it will destroy the barrier for impersonation. Everyone will be suing everyone. A lot of lawsuits will follow because humans are greedy.

You can read about Marilyn here and why she is always compared to Betty Boop. The obvious reason is because they are both sex-symbols. Also they have shared the stage at Universal Studios. I have witnessed it with my own eyes. I won't say anymore.

Before Monroe committed suicide or was 🔪💊 by "you know who" for allegedly knowing too much, a newspaper published in 1960 says that Marilyn is a dash of Betty Boop and a splash of Daisy Mae. Obviously there is a big difference as Monroe is a platinum blonde sporting pin curls. Not spit curls and jet black hair or in Betty's alternative case like Bow red hair.

BET Awards 2021 Features Tribute to Betty Boop

The Black Entertainment Television award show had award winning actress Taraji P. Henson give homage to Baby Esther Jones and Betty Boop. Most of the homage was to Esther Jones, as most people are aware that Esther's "scatting" was a contribution to the whole "Boop-Boop-a-Doop" phase in alternative form. Esther is said to have inspired the creation of that "scatting" technique that was coined by a plump Caucasian 1920s singer who indirectly used Esther's routine but not the exact same words, that singer later went on to inspire the creation of Betty Boop and the rest is history.

In this award show it was a tribute to Black Women. The great Josephine Baker is also referenced in the Betty Boop segment. Jo Baker and Esther Jones were more alike than Betty Boop and Esther, they were actually rivals in Paris at one point.

When people draw Betty Boop as a Black woman or reference her Black History with Cab Calloway, they are more or less likely referencing Esther Jones.

However Esther Jones had no ties to Betty Boop. And Betty Boop was always a Caucasian Jewish girl prior to being an anthropomorphic French poodle, Betty was never Black. But these homages of Betty painted Black or as a Black Woman are more or less likely to Esther Jones who has always been associated with the Betty Boop story. Esther however never claimed the "Boop" or "Doop" and retired from show business and by 1937 was married. No longer known under the name Jones.

It would turn out that Taraji is a fan of Betty Boop.

As a child Taraji says she had a big head and big eyes. Her cousins used to tease her by calling her Betty Boop. She cried until she found out Betty Boop was sexy.
