Mae Questel's Rare Film Cameo (1932)

Today I was able to watch Mae Questel appearance in a rare 1932 film short. Her scenes are very small, and she plays the role of a background dancer. She does a dance at the start of the film, then goes to the dressing room and gossips with the other girls. She most certainly was the next "Boop-a-Doop" queen. Sadly Questel's role is overshadowed by a headliner. Questel tries her charm, and squeaks and acts all cutesy. She's basically a flapper girl, in your typical flapper girl role. Similar to that of Helen Kane. You know high pitch voice? And squeaky?

Mae stands out quite a bit in her scene, but sadly she was never a sex symbol, and wasn't that pretty compared to other Paramount stars. Just like Helen Kane, she wasn't pretty either. Helen and Mae were chubby and cute, not pretty.

There's a difference, you have people who were sexy, like Clara Bow. And then you had the chubby girls like Helen Kane. Mae was exactly like Helen Kane, only not as fat. Helen had a food addiction, and consumed a lot of food, and by 1932 gained like seven chins, she later lost those chins when cancer kicked in.

Whereas with Questel, she just had a round face. Look at her body in these images, she is very petite and small.
